Gas cylinder explosion burns 4 including children

Desk Report :: Four members of the same family, including a child, were burnt when a gas cylinder exploded in a kitchen on the ground floor of a five-storey building in Matabbar Lane of Mugda Police Station in the capital.

The incident took place around 8:30 am on Monday (November 22). They were later rescued and brought to the emergency department of the Sheikh Hasina National Institute of Burn and Plastic Surgery. The victims are Sudhanshu (35), his wife Priyanka (32), son alias (5) and mother-in-law Cephali (55).

The matter has been confirmed by the resident surgeon of Sheikh Hasina National Burn and Plastic Surgery Institute Dr. SM Ayub Hossain.

He said four people, including a child, were burnt when a gas cylinder exploded from Mugda. Among them, 8 per cent of the body of Shishu Urf, 25 per cent of the body of father Sudhanshu, 72 per cent of the body of mother Priyanka and 35 per cent of the body of Nani Cephali suffered flame burn and inhalation injuries. They are being treated in the emergency department. The condition of three people including children is critical.

Palash, brother-in-law of the burnt Sudhanshu, told Dhaka Post, “When my sister went to cook in the morning, she put a match in the stove and there was an explosion.” Later I rescued four of them and brought them to Sheikh Hasina Bern. He said their condition was not good.

He further said that my sister-in-law used to live with her family on the ground floor of house number 36/38, Matabbargali, Mugda police station.
