Garmin introduces pricey smartwatches for adventurers

Garmin has introduced new costly smartwatches, or smart watches, which is partly aimed at adventurers. The prices are between SEK 10,000 – 13,549. The company has presented too many new models for all of them to be reasonably discussed.

Half at random, we therefore focus on Fenix 7X Pro as shown in the image above. The watch offers a chassis in titanium and in a fiber-reinforced polymer, as well as a bracelet in silicone. Customers can also get the device with other types of wristbands. The touch screen is of the type transflective MIP (280 x 280) and the panel should be fully legible in sunlight. The size is a full 51mm. The dial is protected by what Garmin calls “power sapphire”.

The construction is waterproof (10ATM) and houses 32GB of storage, GPS, Galileo, GLONASS, compass, barometric altimeter, gyroscope, accelerometer, thermometer, heart rate monitor, oxygen saturation meter, as well as Bluetooth and Wi-Fi. The watch is charged through a proprietary connector and charger. According to Garmin, the watch should be able to run for over a year in battery saver mode if the device is exposed to the sun for several hours each day (it has solar panels).

In smartwatch mode, the battery life is instead up to 28 days, or 37 days with the help of solar energy. If the user runs full blast with all satellite navigation systems and also plays music, the battery life is only around 16 hours.
