G7 leaders to adopt comprehensive plan to tackle pandemic

The leaders of the G7 states at the end of the Carbis Bay summit will adopt a comprehensive plan to combat the coronavirus pandemic. It is reported by TASS with reference to the words of the Assistant for National Security of the head of the US presidential administration Jake Sullivan.

“With regard to the G7, we will make a joint statement on this issue, and it will not only be about vaccines, although vaccines will be an integral part. It will be a comprehensive plan to help end this pandemic as soon as possible, ”he said.

According to Sullivan, within the framework of the G7, two working groups were created that will deal with the problem of resuming travel and opening borders between states. In one case, this is an expert group with the European Union, and in the other – with Great Britain, the politician specified.

At the same time, the National Security Assistant noted that no concrete results should be expected in this direction in the near future, explaining that the leaders of the G7 country follow a scientific approach and what health experts say about the right time and conditions for opening borders.

Great Britain is going to hold the G7 summit in the traditional format on June 11-13 in Carbis Bay. In addition to the leaders of the member countries of the international organization, the head of the European Commission Ursula von der Leyen and the President of the European Council Charles Michel will also take part in it.
