Deputy Prime Minister of the Russian government Dmitry Chernyshenko announced his support for the reconstruction project of the Izhstal Ice Palace.
Deputy Prime Minister, curator of the Volga Federal District Dmitry Chernyshenko, as part of his visit to Udmurtia, visited sports facilities in the capital of the region, which regularly train about 3 thousand residents. During an inspection of the ice arena, Chernyshenko recalled the President’s instruction to overhaul sports facilities in the country.
“As part of its implementation, it was decided to support Udmurtia by instructing the relevant ministries to work out the issue of co-financing from the federal budget for the reconstruction of the Izhstal ice arena, which we examined today. The subject, for its part, must promptly prepare and provide all the necessary documentation,” the Deputy Prime Minister added.
In addition, Chernyshenko noted that Vladimir Putin has repeatedly drawn attention to the need to use the public-private partnership mechanism in the construction of sports facilities. The region already has such experience.
The reconstruction of the Izhstal Ice Palace, with an area of more than 7 thousand square meters, should begin before the end of this year and be completed in 2024. The cost of the work will be about a billion. The opening of the arena took place on September 27, 1971.
