FSB special operation in the southern regions: the militants who were preparing the terrorist attacks were detained (VIDEO)

FSB officers carried out a successful special operation in four southern regions of Russia, during which 19 militants were arrested who were preparing terrorist attacks in the North Caucasus.

The arrests took place in Karachay-Cherkessia, Crimea, Krasnodar Territory and Rostov Region.

“The activities of the interregional extremist community of the international Islamist organization At-Takfir wal-Hijra (ATVKH), banned in Russia, were suppressed.

In the Karachay-Cherkess Republic, the Republic of Crimea, the Krasnodar Territory and the Rostov Region, 19 radicals have been detained, who, in addition to promoting ideology and recruiting new supporters, planned to commit sabotage and terrorist acts in the North Caucasus on behalf of ATVKH.

In the course of searches at their places of residence and secret gatherings, over 40 copies of extremist materials were seized.

A cache with an RPK machine gun, an AKM machine gun, cartridges and improvised explosive devices weighing more than 3 kg in TNT equivalent, including a “suicide belt” with striking elements, was found in the forest of the Karachay-Cherkess Republic.

Currently, the detainees have been charged under Part 1, Part 1.1, Part 2 of Art. 282.2 (“Organization and participation in the activities of an extremist organization”) of the Criminal Code of Russia, in respect of 10 organizers and active participants of the extremist organization, a preventive measure was chosen in the form of imprisonment, “the FSB Public Relations Center (DSP) reports.
