At today’s cabinet meeting, the government decided to reduce the number of participants in events and activities without infectious disease control, both indoors and outdoors, to limit the spread of COVID-19.

From 2 August, up to 500 participants are allowed indoors and up to 1,500 outdoors in events and activities that are not preceded by an inspection of the safety of visitors for infection, ie proof of vaccination, passage or a negative test. At present, a total of up to 1,000 people and up to 5,000 people can take part in such indoor events and activities.

Events and activities that test participants for a negative test result, COVID-19 disease, or COVID-19 vaccination course will continue to be subject to the current procedure and can accommodate up to 6,000 people indoors and 12,000 outdoors.

The changes concern public meetings and events, including conferences, theater performances, concerts, cinema screenings, entertainment, worship, museums and exhibitions. In addition, they cover sports, training, youth work, hobbies, hobby education, further training and education, the organization of sports competitions and sports and exercise events, as well as public saunas, spas, swimming pools, water parks and swimming pools.

Restrictions are necessary because vaccination rates are not yet high enough and the virus is widespread. The government will discuss the next steps next week.
