France acquires new space military intelligence capabilities

France continues to strengthen its space arsenal. After the sending of telecommunications satellites at the end of October, the armies will soon have new space capabilities in the field of electromagnetic intelligence. A European Vega rocket took off on the morning of November 16 from the Guyanese space center with the three military satellites of the CERES system (Space Electromagnetic Intelligence Capability) on board. The orbiting of the three satellites, which lasted about an hour, was described as a success by Arianespace, which carried out its 300th launch there from Kourou. “CERES is an innovative means of intelligence which contributes to the strengthening of our space defense capabilities, which are decisive for our sovereignty and our strategic independence ”, welcomed the Minister of the Armed Forces, Florence Parly, a few moments after the success of the mission.
