A preliminary Israeli study released on Tuesday, December 4, shows that the fourth dose of an anti-Covid vaccine increases antibody levels five times a week after administration.

The announcement was made by Israeli Prime Minister Naftali Bennett

“One week after the fourth dose, we now know with a high degree of certainty that the fourth dose is safe,” he told Sheba Medical Center, where the second dose of booster is administered under a clinical study performed on employees in the medical system, in the context of the increase of infections caused by the new Omicron variant of the SARS-CoV-2 virus.

“The second information: we know that one week after the fourth dose, we see a fivefold increase in the number of antibodies in the vaccinated person’s body,” the Israeli prime minister added.

“Most likely, this means a significant increase in protection against infections, hospitalizations and severe symptoms,” added Naftali Bennett.

Israel has played a leading role in the study of the effects of Covid vaccines, being the country with the fastest two-dose vaccination campaign of its population in 2021 and one of the first countries in the world to start administering doses of booster.

The country is currently administering the fourth dose of Pfizer / BioNTech vaccine to people over 60, medical staff and patients with compromised immunity.

According to the Ministry of Health, the fourth dose of vaccine can be given at least four months after the third injection.
