Ford has introduced the fourteenth generation F-150, a pickup model whose history dates back to 1948. This is the best-selling car in the world thanks to its huge popularity in the United States.
The model will be available for the first time with a hybrid drive, and the fully electric version should arrive on the market in a few years. The new F-150 has been significantly modernized and receives software enhancements over the Internet.
However, this is still a pickup made on a tubular chassis and with an aluminum body, noting that it is a “very reinforced alloy used by the army”. The look of the vehicle hasn’t changed drastically, but Ford notes that each panel has been redesigned, as have the headlights and bumpers. The track has also been increased, as well as the size of the wheels in the basic variant.
The F-150 will be available in 11 different body and cargo variants that are tailored to special purposes. To reduce consumption, active front grille fasteners and a movable element on the chassis have been added to speed up airflow as needed. Consumption data not published.
The interior has been thoroughly redesigned. Ford states that there is more space in the cabin for storing items and that better quality materials have been used. In higher equipment packages, passengers enjoy a 12-inch screen with a split display function. The top package also brings a digital instrument panel of the same diagonal.
The new Work Surface option means that the cab can be turned into a mini office, with the gear lever folding and the central armrest folding down to create a kind of office work surface. There is also the option of extending the seat almost to an angle of 180 degrees for maximum passenger comfort.
The new hybrid drive is labeled PowerBoost and delivers the most torque and power of any other pickup model of this size. An electric accessory is an option for every F-150. 1100km autonomy data with one tank filling and 5400kg traction capacity for the 3.5-liter EcoBoost V6 engine has been published.
The hybrid drive is combined with a ten-speed automatic transmission, and a 35kW electric generator is integrated into the transmission. It is powered by a lithium-ion battery with a capacity of 1.5 kWh, which is located in the lower part of the vehicle.
The new F-150 is equipped with a SYNC 4 multimedia system. The basic version now has more safety equipment, including active cruise control, which allows you to take your hands off the steering wheel on the highway.
