Four new electric cars are being integrated into the public service vehicle fleet

Four new electric vehicles were received yesterday (Thursday, October 7, 2021) by the Department of Electromechanical Services and are made available to the Public Service. The supply of these electric vehicles is part of the Government’s policy for the gradual replacement of Public Service vehicles. The four new electric vehicles were purchased following an assignment made after an open bidding process of the Department of Electromechanical Services while their total purchase cost amounted to € 142,324.00 including VAT (€ 35,581.00 per vehicle).

It should be noted that the project is co-financed by the Fund “Cohesion Policy 2014-2020” on “Integrated system of management, information, communication and monitoring of projects” by 85% and from the resources of the Republic of Cyprus by 15%.

In addition, it is noted that, by the end of October 2021, the installation of four charging points is expected in the buildings where the Department of Environment is housed (3 in Nicosia and 1 in Larnaca) with the ability to charge the above electric vehicles within six hours.
