Prague – The court could release former BerČR vice-president Roman Berbr from custody today. He is one of the accused in the case of allegedly influencing the results of the matches of the second and third football leagues, he spent three months in custody.
The case of the alleged influence of the match by the referees was unleashed in mid-October by police intervention in several places in the country, including the FACR headquarters in Prague. Forensic scientists claim that everything was managed by an organized criminal group. According to the media, it was mainly a match between Vyšehrad, which advanced from the third to the second league in the 2018/19 season. Matches were also to be influenced for the purpose of betting.
According to investigators from the National Center against Organized Crime (NCOZ), Berbr and a group of people around him also embezzled 850 thousand crowns from the Pilsen Regional Football Association.
Sixty-six-year-old Berbr has already resigned from the position of Vice-Chairman of the FACR and the position of executive committee and head of the Pilsen Regional Football Association, and later resigned from the Board of Directors of STES, the marketing company of the Football Association. Rogoz was again fired from the position of sports director of Vyšehrad. Berbr’s partner Dagmar Damková also left the position in Czech football, and at her own request she also ended up in the UEFA referee committee.
