Forest fire in Kahramanmaraş under control

A fire broke out in the forest area in the Kısıklı District in the rural district of Kahramanmaraş for an undetermined reason.

Upon notification of the situation, fire extinguishers affiliated to the Regional Directorate of Forestry and Kahramanmaraş Metropolitan Municipality were directed to the region.

Helicopters with night vision and flight systems were dispatched to the region as it got dark. It was learned that 3 helicopters with active features were deployed in the fire zone.

Kahramanmaraş Regional Director of Forestry, Mustafa Koç, stated that the fire occurred on a steep terrain.

Explaining that they had difficulties in the struggle, Koç said: “We had difficulty in water replenishment because the area is very steep, but the fire has been brought under control for now. The fire area is close to the settlements. We took the necessary precautions at this point. The risk is almost non-existent. Some of the reinforcement teams came from Osmaniye, Adana, Hatay and Mersin, and some are on the way. We have 15 fire trucks, 4 water tanks and 11 fire trucks, 2 dozers, 5 planes and 7 helicopters in the field. “

Koç noted that cooling works continue in the fire area, which was taken under control.
