Ford updates the Focus

Ford has introduced the restyling or update of the commercial half-life of the Focus, the compact and until recently flagship vehicle of the American company in Europe, and which in its current format was first presented in 2018. The Focus is in a very complicated segment, that of the European C-segment compacts, where it is very difficult to become a predominant place, especially after the arrival of powerful rivals such as the new Volkswagen Golf, Renault Mégane and Seat León, among others.

The first thing that stands out about the new Focus is the new design of the front of the car, with more stylized headlights and a higher and more forceful hood. Now the new Focus also introduces optical groups with LED technology as standard, which improve the light efficiency of the model and also integrate fog lights within the same frame.

Americans also maintain the family body or wagon and the Active version, which gives it more height, lower protection and the presence of all-terrain vehicles. The trunk of the family version is increased to 1,653 liters of capacity.

In terms of technology, it should be noted that the Focus incorporates the new generation SYNC 4 infotainment system, which allows a better connection to the network and a new faster interface that is managed by the 13.2-inch central touch screen. At this point it should also be noted that the Focus will now have as standard a new blind spot angle assistant that allows you to monitor vehicles or objects outside the driver’s field of vision and discourage a maneuver using audible or light warnings.

In terms of mechanics, it should be noted that Ford also incorporates for the first time the possibility of using an automatic transmission in the engines mild hybrid EcoBoost with 48V generator and reaching 125 and 155 hp. According to the brand, this new automatic change allows driving in urban spaces to be more efficient and environmentally friendly than before. Ford also maintains the popular three-cylinder 1.0 EcoBoost engine of 100 and 125 hp with six-speed manual gearbox, an EcoBlue 1.5 diesel of 90 and 120 hp associated with a manual transmission and a second 2.0 EcoBlue diesel engine with powers of 150 and 190 hp. Above all is the ST version, with the 2.3 EcoBoost petrol engine and a power of 280 hp, more aimed at a young audience or looking for performance and acceleration at the wheel.

Finally it is worth remembering that the restyling of the Focus will not reach our market until the first quarter of 2022, at a price yet to be confirmed.
