for you, the future is more foldable or rollable?

In recent years, smartphone manufacturers have been scrambling to offer increasingly original formats. After sliding smartphones, we saw the first models with foldable screens appear two years ago.

This week, the Chinese manufacturer Oppo demonstrated its drop-down smartphone, the Oppo X 2021, a smartphone that we were able to take in hand.

However, smartphones with a scrolling screen are only prototypes for the time being, a far cry from the state of play of foldable models. It must be said that in two years, Samsung was able to get its hands on this format, with its Galaxy Fold, its Galaxy Z Flip and its Galaxy Z Fold 2. Opposite, Motorola or Huawei are not left out and have already launched several products.

Still, the foldable format still offers some drawbacks for users, with thicker smartphones once closed, but also flexibility – and therefore fragility – increased of the panel. These are all challenges that scrolling-screen models, like the Oppo X 2021, could meet. The idea is to offer a 6.7-inch screen that can be extended to turn into a 7.4-inch tablet.

Rather foldable screen or scrollable screen?

It is in this context that we precisely wanted to have your opinion on the smartphone format of the future. Are you more of a fan of foldable smartphones or roll-up smartphones? Do you think that the two formats will be able to coexist in the long term in the high end or are these, in your opinion, gadgets that will never be able to replace traditional smartphones? Let us know in our poll of the week.
