Prague – On Tuesday, there were 6,274 confirmed cases of covid-19 in the Czech Republic, almost twice as many as a week ago. For the first time since April, the daily number of new infections has exceeded 6,000. 166 patients are in severe condition, similar to Monday. There are 246 infected per 100,000 inhabitants in the last seven days, the incidence number has increased by 29 since Tuesday, according to data from the Ministry of Health.

The positivity of the tests increased significantly. For preventive and area tests, it was 3.14 percent on Tuesday, which is the highest since March. In the case of an epidemiological indication, where people are tested, for example, for possible contact with the infected, the proportion of positives has risen to 8.46 percent, the most since the beginning of May. For the diagnostic indication, when people showing symptoms were tested, more than a fifth of those tested were positive, which was the last time it was in April. Laboratories performed about 105,000 tests on Tuesday, about 34,000 more than a week ago.
