Fonollosa: “My father taught me that a job well done usually has a reward”

Together for Martorell has filled the square of the Municipal Sports Pavilion tonight in the last campaign meeting. The candidate Xavier Fonollosa has had the support of ex-mayor Salvador Esteve, number 2 Soledad Rosende, and the young Eloi Estopiña, Marina Martínez, and his eldest daughter, Maria Fonollosa.

The Junts per Martorell candidate focused on explaining, from his point of view, “what it means to be mayor of your town and what requirements a person must have to be mayor”. He has admitted that there is little politics in a town. “A mayor must work”, he said, “to make his town progress: help those who need it most, preserve the cohesion and good social coexistence of his neighbors, and listen to everyone. And that doesn’t mean doing politics, it’s doing town”.

In these elections, “the people of Martorell play a lot”, the mayor of Junts per Martorell has clarified. “Martorell is betting that he will move forward on the right path or, on the contrary, that Martorell will get stuck again, pull back and deteriorate. That’s why we need a broad victory to avoid alliances that send us to the bench as happened in 2003”, said Fonollosa.

Beyond being nervous about Sunday’s results, Fonollosa acknowledged having a clear conscience with the work they have done because “we were able to do everything we set out to do four years ago, despite suffering a pandemic in the middle” . This is why he feels optimistic because, from a young age, “my father has always told me that if I did a job well done, usually, you get a prize and we are very satisfied because we think we have done a job well done” .

The mayor of Junts per Martorell also had words of thanks for his colleagues and all the campaign team and members of the government team who worked during the mandate. Finally, he dedicated some emotional words to his wife and three daughters.

The person in charge of opening the parliaments was Salvador Esteve, the most veteran candidate of Junts per Martorell, who was mayor of Martorell for 24 years. Esteve began his parliament by congratulating Xavier Fonollosa’s team for “the serious and positive campaign because they have dedicated themselves to explaining what they have done, how they have done it and what they hope to do”, he said. For Salvador Esteve, “Martorell is moving forward and has progressed a lot, socially, economically, sportingly, culturally and in all areas” and he has affirmed that “we have a first line town”.

Number 2 on the Junts per Martorell list, Soledad Rosende, has said that they have everything ready to make the journey of the next four years, “a journey that we want to share with all the people of Martorell”. Rosende said that “we have the wagon, the people, the route map and the suitcases. Suitcases full of emotions and motivations, projects and work capacity. And most importantly, the best machinist, Xavier Fonollosa”.
