Details about the foldable Surface Duo smartphone continue to appear on the Internet as the device’s release approaches. This time, Microsoft Product Director Panos Panay showed off the latest version of Surface Duo. Judging by the images presented, the device is somewhat different from what the company demonstrated as a prototype last year, and looks like a working example. This is the main sign that the release of the smartphone will take place very soon. It is expected that the Surface Duo will be launched in the coming months and will go on sale during the New Year holidays.
As previously reported, the smartphone will be equipped with two 5.6-inch AMOLED panels with a resolution of 1800 × 1350 pixels (401ppi) and an aspect ratio of each display of 4: 3. The device will work on the basis of the Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 chipset, so there will be no 5G support. The amount of RAM will be 6 GB, permanent – 64 or 256 GB, and the main camera will be able to take pictures with a resolution of 11 MP. The smartphone will be powered by a 3460 mAh battery. The software “highlight” of the smartphone will be the proprietary Microsoft Launcher, specially designed taking into account the features of the folding form factor. Also on the Surface Duo will be pre-installed a number of applications optimized for working with two screens.
