Students of the Experimental High School of the University of Macedonia were inspired and built a “smart tap”, which manages to fight water waste, but also the transmission of germs in our glass. In fact, for this achievement they were distinguished with the first prize in the Panhellenic Competition “Best Student Virtual Business 2021” of Junior Achievement Greece.
The “smart” faucet was named by the flow on group and applies to simple outdoor faucets, which then open and close on their own. This means that its use in public and private spaces achieves valuable water savings, but also safety in matters of hygiene.
Speaking to ERT, David Begjanian, the leader of the team, said, among other things, that there were several factors that led them to this idea. He added: “The first and most basic was the experience we had every day at our school, with taps left open or leaking.”
The 1The The Minister of Education and Religions, Niki Kerameos, presented an award to the team and then wished them good luck. This is a student “start up” team, which will now represent Greece in the Pan-European Competition JA Europe Company of the YearCompetition 2021 to be held on July 15 in Lithuania and which will be attended by 40 European countries.
