At least 10 places in the capital have been set on fire by lanterns and fireworks during the Thirty First Night celebrations of the English New Year.

The duty officer said that a total of 10 houses including Tejgaon, Jatrabari, Dhanmondi and Rayerbagh in the capital have received reports of fire on the roof and road wires. 2 units of fire service have been sent to each place.

He said many people were burnt in the blaze and the injured were rescued and sent to Dhaka Medical College Hospital.
