The Ministry of Commerce changed the Free Zones Implementation Regulation, paving the way for firearm production in free zones.
With the regulation published in the Official Gazette, a clause was added to the Article 32 of the Free Zones Implementation Regulation titled “Goods that are prohibited to be brought into the zone or require special machinery”.
According to the added paragraph; The production and release of firearms in the region and the entry and exit of the ammunition to be used in the R&D activities carried out as a part of this production activity will be subject to the legislative provisions applied by the Ministry of Interior or the Ministry of National Defense.
Article 32 prohibited the bringing of firearms and their ammunition, radioactive materials, hazardous and toxic wastes and other goods determined by the Ministry of Trade to the Regions. With this regulation, the bans on firearm entry and exit into the region were relaxed, limited to production activities.
