jpnn.com, JAKARTA TIMUR – A man named Ahmad Yasin (25) was burned to death in a boarding house on Jalan Pelita, Gang Damai, RW 09, Kramat Jati, East Jakarta, Sunday (27/6) morning.

Head of the Operations Section of the East Jakarta Fire and Rescue (Gulkarmat) Sub-dept. Gatot Sulaeman said that the victim was a resident of the boarding house.

It is suspected that the fire occurred due to an electrical short in the socket in the victim’s room.

“There was an electrical short at the socket when (the victim) was charging the laptop. Then the victim fell asleep,” said Gatot in a written statement.

Gatot added that while the victim was sleeping in his room, a fire broke out. The fire burned the victim’s room.

The victim died from burns. The fire was extinguished by firefighters in about 20 minutes.

“The loss due to the fire is approximately Rp. 25 million,” said Gatot. (cr1/jpnn)
