Smoke was noticed after midnight on the first floor of the building. The incident was reported to 112, and the authorities launched the Red Intervention Plan.

According to the authorities, 42 children and 41 adults were evacuated. Most of the evacuated patients were transferred to other medical units. No one was injured in the incident.

Firefighters determined that the thick smoke was caused by a short circuit in electrical equipment. The hazard was removed and the building was ventilated using ISU equipment.

Numerous firefighters, as well as policemen and gendarmes, intervened on the scene.

The spokeswoman of ISU Timiş, Elena Megherea, declared that the Red Intervention Plan was activated, the fire manifesting itself with large releases of smoke.

“When the fire crews arrived, after conducting the reconnaissance, it was found that there were massive releases of smoke on the first and second floors, 42 children and 41 parents were evacuated. Since the arrival of the forces and means at the scene of the intervention, the fire has not spread,” said Elena Megherea.
