“Finch” – Apple bought the rights to a new movie starring Tom Hanks

In July last year, the movie “Mission Grayhound” appeared in the Apple TV + catalog, in which the main role was played by Tom Hanks, known from such films as “Cast Away”, “Forrest Gump” and “Saving Private Ryan”. As reported by Deadline, last weekend Apple bought the rights to the next production with this actor, entitled “Finch”.

Finch is a science-fiction film about a future in which an environmental catastrophe wiped out most of life on earth. It tells the story of a man living in a bunker with his dog, trying to build a robot to take care of his pet after his death. The film was directed by Miguel Sapochnik (m. “Game of Thrones” and “Altered Carbon”) and the authors of the script are Craig Luck and Ivor Powell. Steven Spielberg’s Amblin Entertainment is responsible for the production.

As with Mission Grayhound, Finch was not made for Apple TV +, but was sold to Apple when it was decided that due to the COVID-19 pandemic it would not be profitable to show it only in cinemas. The exact release date has not been released yet, but it will most likely take place at the end of this year or the beginning of next year to increase the chances of winning an Oscar or other awards.
