Final Fantasy VII Ever Crisis – Square Enix reveals more information about the new iOS RPG

At the beginning of 2021, Square Enix announced two new mobile games from the Final Fantasy series – The First Soldier and Ever Crisis. While the first of them has already hit the App Store and been removed from it, the second one has still not been released. During Summer Game Fest 2023, however, some new information about this game was revealed, indicating that its premiere may take place soon.

Final Fantasy VII Ever Crisis is supposed to be something like an alternative remake of Final Fantasy VII designed from scratch for mobile devices. In terms of visuals and gameplay mechanics, this title is to be closer to the original than Final Fantasy VII Remake on consoles, offering combat in a classic turn-based mode. What’s more, its plot will include not only the events of the main game, but also its side parts, such as Crisis Core. Square Enix has also now revealed that the game will also feature completely new plots that complement the stories known from the original games. It was also announced that it will offer an additional co-op mode, in which players will be able to face opponents together.

Ever Crisis still doesn’t have an official release date yet, but Square Enix has already launched pre-registration in stores App Store and Google Play where players can unlock additional rewards to claim once the game is available. So it seems quite likely that its premiere will take place this year. Unfortunately, the prizes offered under this promotion (virtual currency and “coupons” for drawing characters) clearly indicate that Ever Crisis will be a freemium game very much focused on microtransactions.
