This is the motivation of the jury, made up of prominent personalities from the fields of culture and design (such as the president of FAI Marco Magnifico, the director of Living e Inhabit Francesca Taroni and the creator of the SaloneSatellite Marva Griffin) who together proposed a list of names and selected five finalists: Giacomo Totti, Federico Peri, Stefania Agostini and Luca Mostarda dello studio Amarchitectrue e Maria Vittoria Paggini. The latter was assigned one special mentionfor having been able to create a minimum space of only 24 square meters complete with everything.
During the awards ceremony, which took place on Monday 21 November at Villa Necchi Campiglio, Philip Perego of Cremnago he recalled the early stages of his career. «When I started, in 1957, the figure of the decorator didn’t exist. I was lucky enough to be born in an 18th century house designed by Piermarini and to learn from the very rooms in which I lived». After an experience in New York and the first works following Tommaso Buzzi, he furnished some of the most beautiful houses in Italy (and beyond), blending classic style with modern ideas.
Alongside his commitment as a designer, he has always dedicated himself to supporting socially useful works, from the recovery projects followed for the FAI to scientific research, up to the generous contribution that led to the rescue in 2019 ofthe Menotti theater in Milan, today Menotti Perego Theatre.
Unique of its kind in Italy, the Philip Perego Award born for ccelebrate the figure of the interior designerpromoting a profession that in our country has not always been recognized for its value, and to give an opportunity for visibility to under 40 talents who intend to establish themselves in this sector.
