Fight in Turan: Nearly 160 detainees in violent incidents in the village

Police arrested nearly 160 people yesterday (Saturday) in a violent brawl that broke out in the village of Turan in the Galilee. The brawl broke out as a result of a long conflict between two families in the village – Dahla and Adawi, against the background of the local elections. A man was slightly injured in the fight yesterday, after he was apparently shot in the legs.

About 250 policemen, from all over the northern region, along with Border Police and WISM raided the village in order to stop the riots. The detainees are suspected of offenses of involvement in a violent brawl, arson and shooting.

The many arrests yesterday are in addition to the arrest of 11 others in the village over the weekend, some of whom were caught with various weapons, including a Carlo rifle, a launch gun, Molotov cocktails and a grenade. The detention of those suspects was extended in the Magistrate’s Court at the request of the police.
