Press reports stated that FIFA decided to impose a penalty on the Saudi Federation, by depriving it of registering new players in the upcoming summer transfer period.

According to the same sources, the International Federation took a decision to prevent the federation from joining new players in the summer of 2023, due to the delay in paying the dues of the Emirati club Sharjah from the transfer of Brazilian Coronado, amounting to two million euros.

Coronado had joined the ranks of Al-Ittihad during the summer transfer period in 2021, coming from the ranks of the Emirati team, Sharjah.

The value of the Coronado contract purchase deal is about 10 million euros, which must be paid in three installments, but the federation management did not commit to paying the due payments on time, as only the first payment was paid upon signing the contracts.

Igor Coronado played 31 matches with Al-Ittihad this season in various competitions, scoring 6 goals and making 13 assists.

Al-Ittihad is preparing to face Al-Fayhaa tomorrow, Saturday, on its way to winning the “Roshan” league title for the 2022-2023 season.

Al-Ittihad is at the top of the Saudi Roshen League standings, with 66 points from 28 matches, ahead of Al-Nasr, the runner-up, by 3 points. In the event of victory over Al-Fayhaa, Al-Ittihad will officially crown the league title for the first time since the 2008-2009 season, thanks to its superiority in direct confrontations with Al-Nasr.
