Fico and Pellegrini again challenged the decree on borders in the Constitutional Court – Home – Administration

The opposition turned to the Constitutional Court again, because it considers the decree, which sends every unvaccinated person to the mandatory 14-day quarantine after returning to Slovakia, to be unconstitutional. The non-parliamentary Voice-SD on the social network and Robert Fico, the chairman of Smer-SD, also informed about it in a video.

Fico stated that they had already won this duel at the ÚS SR last week. He pointed out that the government ignored the Constitution of the Slovak Republic and again adopted the same decree. According to him, the decree, which is effective from Monday, copies what the ÚS SR has suspended. “So again, anyone who is not vaccinated and returns from abroad to Slovakia must go to a 14-day quarantine, from which he can only leave if he pays for a PCR test, and this PCR test on the fifth day also proves “Fico said.”

He noted that they had prepared a legal proposal, which was signed by the required number of deputies during Monday, and subsequently delivered to the ÚS SR. Fico believes that ÚS SR will suspend the effectiveness of the decree. According to the chairman of Smer-SD, no one can be forced to be vaccinated. “It is not possible to create two categories of people – vaccinated and non-vaccinated, with those who are vaccinated having some advantages, which then limit those who are not vaccinated,” he said.

Hlas-SD stated on the social network that in the opposition they joined forces and attacked the decree of the Public Health Office of the Slovak Republic, which “further intensified bullying at the borders”. They continue to reject the division of people into two categories. “Vaccinated, tested and those who have overcome COVID-19 must have the same conditions for returning to their homeland,” Hlas-SD informs on the social network.

On Monday, from 6.00 am, the new rules for the entry of persons into Slovakia came into force, who have so far been vaccinated with only one dose of the COVID-19 vaccine. Already on the first day after return, they can be tested by PCR test and, if the result is negative, quarantine can be terminated. The transitional provisions only apply to those vaccinated before 9 July and will apply for two weeks. This follows from Friday’s decree of the Public Health Office of the Slovak Republic, which responds to the decision of the Central Office of the Slovak Republic.
