During week 51, the number of covid-19 cases increased by 14 percent compared to the week before, according to a preliminary analysis of data reported up to and including 28 December.

Of the confirmed cases last week, 36 percent were unvaccinated.

The results from the analyzes of samples from the country’s regions have not yet been fully reported for week 51, but indicate according to FHM that the proportion of cases that then consisted of omicrons varied between 3 and 51 percent in the regions of the country.

“The trend is clear: the proportion of omicrons is rising, and the proportion of cases consisting of omicrons is expected to continue to increase,” the authority writes.

Vaccination has continued, and 29 percent of everyone in the country who is 18 years and older has now received a refill dose. Among those who are 65 years or older, 79 percent have received a refill dose up to and including 28 December.
