The first edition of the music festival “We set the rhythm” will be held on Saturday, May 28 at Belgrade Youth Center (American Hall) from 8 p.m.

Funk, groove, reggae, soul & latino jazz themes are the first editions of the one-day music festival “Zadajemo ritam”, whose participants are well-known quality Belgrade club attractions: Bane Lalić & MVP, Igor Vince & His Drum, Brass And Keys, Bege Fank & BKOas well as Funkier Project. Such a wealth of rhythms has not been seen in one night on our stages for a long time, which promises flawless entertainment at a high level.

Bane Lalic is a composer, lyricist and frontman of the band MVP. It was founded by Bane Lalic and Zarko Kovacevic in 2006, the first album called “Bluff” was released in 2009 for PGP RTS, and the release featured Sky Wickler from Bad Copy, Ognjen Kostic Struka and Dalibor Andonov GRU. At the end of 2010, Žarko Kovačević agreed to leave the MVP and move to SARS. “All night and all day”, which has remained the band’s most successful hit to date, with over 11 million views on YouTube. In 2012, the band Bane Lalić & MVP won the prestigious MTV Best Adria Act award, competing with such names as Elemental, TBF, Trash Candy and Who See. The third album “Na slobodi”, released for PGP RTS, in 2019.

Singer-songwriter, singer and multi-instrumentalist Igor Vinceis the main star of afro-pop sound in our region, the only white musician who has ever become a member of the Nigerian legend Femija Kutija. This man of rare talent from Belgrade has performed with many other world music greats, some of whom are Keziah Jones, Fatoumata Diawara, Dean Bowman, Cheick Tidiane Seck, Cheikh Lo. An explosion of rhythm, dance and strong messages leads us through his music, all the way to the finest and most emotional love notes and verses. With a drum in front of him, as the main artillery of rhythm, his stature, voice, fierce messages and enchanting love verses, Igor’s music strikes everyone he reaches. Last year, he released, still current, single “Happiness is” and in 2020 a single “It’s time”which hosted the most prominent reggae musicians of the region Hornsman Coyote (Eyesbun / Serbia), and Brain Holidays from Croatia, which immediately after its release received the title of reggae anthem of the Balkans.

Igor, in his own way, plays with genres such as funk, afrobeat, soul, rock, reggae, r’n’b, worldbeat, jazz and pop. From very energetic, rhythmically charged, songs and penetrating wind lines, to the most subtle ballads, Igor, once again points to a wide range of his musical expression. Igor Vince & His Drum, Brass, And Keys are a multi-member band with a strong wind section, a convincing rhythm section, exotic backing vocals, indispensable afro-funky dancers, which guarantees noble all-night entertainment.

Bege Fank in the period 1996-2004, under the name DJ_Ape, was one of the most prominent jungle / d’n’b and party hip-hop DJs in the region. In 2003, he became the first local DJ to officially perform on the Main Stage of the Exit Festival. Since 2009, under the stage name Lou Benny, he has been actively returning to his first musical love – rhyming and rap – and in collaboration with Milan Stanković, SevdahBABY has published the first notable songs. “Yo! Hambin 91” i “Znooojjj (Begefank)”. This was followed by festival performances with SevdahBABY Live! exhibition throughout the region, solo works as well as authorial and performing collaborations with local soul and funk musicians – Mark Louis and the groups MaraQYa and St. Louis Band, the group Zemlja Gruva, Nenad Stefanović the Japanese – but also many actors of the regional rap scene. With several EP releases, in 2019 he released his only LP called “Good Tail” developing his eponymous concept of “Good Tail” with which he celebrated Serbian rap in the world.

DJ BKO, after many years of career as a bboy dancer / breaker during which he fell in love and understood dance music, in the late 2000s entered the production and DJ waters and soon became one of the best party DJs in our area. Through his notable works in collaboration with Gazda Paja, Kendi and Sajsi MC, he showed that in terms of production, he is looking for qualities that are at the level of his great skills in turntable management. In January 2013, he started a DJ / MC collaboration with Bege Funk in order to create a recognizable concept of the most dynamic parties in the coming years, which still move people to all major Belgrade clubs, and beyond – even to Hamburg. From this, in 2022, in addition to parties, they also announce performances with a new concept “All Inclusive – intimate rap spectacle” in which Bege Funk performs selected rhymes from his career on the microphone, while BKO actively manages the whole event with two turntables and a mixer. with a specially designed scenography and performance setup, it promises a new, unforgettable live rap experience. DJ BKO and Bege Fank will premiere their “All Inclusive” performance on May 28 at the first edition of the “Set the Rhythm” festival at the Belgrade Youth Center.

Funkier Project is a music group focused on a strong artistic live performance. Andrija Hadzic, frontman of the Funkier Project, was born and raised in Paracin in a troubled provincial teenage environment. Realizing that these were not satisfactory circumstances, at the age of nineteen he left home and moved to Novi Sad, where he lived as a street musician, periodically staying in Belgrade. After that, at the invitation of a friend from the Netherlands, he went to The Hague, and then to Spain, where he lives in a cave and collaborates on the Trance n Dance project with his ex-girlfriend, in which they combine organic trance. He then continued his career as a street musician in Serbia, Luxembourg and Italy. Today he lives in Belgrade and earns his living from painting and music, performing with his band Funkier Project.
