Fennel and sesame mini sals cookies: recipe

Running out of inspiration for tonight’s aperitif? Here is a recipe for tasty and fragrant mini-cookies that are prepared with nothing. Treat yourself!

Fennel and sesame mini sals cookies

Number of persons : 40 cookies approximately

List of ingredients

  • 100 g of grated cheese
  • 100g of flour
  • 100 g of soft butter
  • 1 spoon. tablespoon of water
  • 1 egg yolk
  • Fennel and sesame seeds
  • 1 pinch of salt

Preparation time: 15 minutes

Cooking time : 15 minutes

Rest time : 30 minutes


In a salad bowl, mix the flour and the grated cheese.

Add the butter and water.

Knead until you get a smooth dough.

Form a ball, cover it and let it rest for at least 30 minutes at room temperature.

Preheat the oven to 180 ┬░ C.

Roll out the dough on a floured work surface.

Cut cookies using a cookie cutter (or a small glass).

Arrange them on a baking sheet covered with baking paper.

Beat the egg yolk and coat the cookies with a brush.

Sprinkle the cookies with the fennel and sesame seeds.

Bake them halfway up until they are well puffed and golden.

Take them out of the oven and let them cool on a rack.

Tips for making the recipe a success

The fennel seeds bring a sweet flavor, with notes of anise and liquorice. But according to your tastes, you can decline the recipe with many other flavors by using other seeds (sesame, cumin, poppy) or spices (Espelette pepper, paprika …).
