The researcher of Wadia Institute of Himalayan Geology has expressed fear that a big earthquake can happen at any time. Ajay Pal He said, the Himalayan region falls under seismic zone-5 (highly sensitive zone). As a result, earthquakes can occur in the region at any time.

Although it is not possible to predict when an earthquake will occur, Dr. Ajay Paul He said that when energy is released from tectonic plates, earthquakes can occur. Although it is not possible to predict earthquakes, it is possible to protect at least some of the damage caused by earthquakes.

He believes that civil engineers have an important role in this regard. He is talking about building houses and hotels by planning to be able to deal with earthquakes. Apart from that, the extra houses or big hotels in the lap of the Himalayas and the pollution caused by them can also affect the earth’s surface and that can also cause earthquakes, geologists have expressed fear.
