The cell contains the collaborative robot FANUC CRX-10iA and all the functions needed to learn the basic programming skills in a dedicated package. Enabling young people to gain first-hand programming and control experience with state-of-the-art robots, this plug & play solution is ready to use right out of the box.
The existing FANUC educational cell, with the standard FANUC ER-4iA industrial robot, continues to prove very popular. By adding a new option to this offering, the FANUC CRX educational robot collaboration cell will enable schools, colleges, universities, training centers and OEMs to offer students a choice of automation concepts.
Robot and human collaboration
The main visual difference with the CRX educational cell is the lack of protection. As the name suggests, collaborative robots can work safely together with humans, so in case of contact, they stop in a safe and instantaneous way. In addition, optional security scanners are available that set up security zones for those who want to run the robot at high speed. Anyone who enters these zones will cause the collaborative robot to work at a slower “safe” speed.
The focal point of the CRX edifying cell is its CRX-10iA collaborative robot with a range of 1249 mm and a maximum payload of 10 kg. Easy to use and practical, the robot is mounted on a stroller for fast transfer between classrooms and requires only a standard single-phase 240 V power supply.
Importantly, FANUC’s Teach Pendant tablet facilitates intuitive drag and drop programming, allowing users to create a robot path in minutes. The Teach Pendant tablet also contains fully integrated guides as standard.
As a side note, it is possible to program the CRX-10iA using the industry standard programming method with Teach Pendant code. As a result, there are no limitations in programming technique – students who enter the industry and come across the FANUC industrial robot will program in the same language that uses the CRX -10iA.
The CRX-10iA also offers plug-in software to support the installation of a peripheral interface. In addition, the solution is fully industry-ready 4.0 / IoT and offers Ethernet ports and support for Ethernet software as standard.
Create the optimal solution
Available options include a fully integrated electric gripper and a ready-to-use solitaire application that helps students learn best practice programming techniques.
An additional option is a fully integrated FANUC iRVision camera mounted on a robot that provides a smooth image without sharp edges. The camera offers full compatibility with the electric capture application and solitaire. Customers can also opt for a fully integrated electric vacuum catcher.
By default, the CRX educational cell comes with 20 licenses for FANUC ROBOGUIDE simulation software for use on a computer. For example, a university may have 20 students in a classroom who are simultaneously learning robot programming in the virtual world, before downloading a robot program for real-world application.
