Family tells CM how he escaped the horror of the flames in a building in Lisbon – Portugal

A woman, a Guinean emigrant, and her two young children escaped the fire that broke out on the street this Friday Morais Soares, in Lisbon. The fire killed three people and left at least 11 other injuries, four of them seriously. The family was a resident of that building and reported to CM that they managed to escape the flames through the backyard, as did other residents of the first floor and ground floor, since the building will not have fire escapes. This family was one of two that was resettled. Other people jumped from the upper floors in the first moments of the fire, particularly from the fourth floor, having been trapped by the flames. The incident led to a large apparatus of operatives at the site. About 36 firefighters were at the site, supported by 14 vehicles.

Many residents were removed from their homes as a precaution.

The building was left uninhabitable and several residents were left homeless, revealed a source of firefighters, who could not specify the exact number.

The fire will have started on the ground floor. The causes are being investigated by the competent authorities.
