F4: Granfors back to Thruxton

With four second places in the bag and a rising form curve, Joel Granfors is ready to continue the hunt for the first international racing victory when British F4 returns to fast Thruxton.

Motorsport enthusiasts should have split vision this weekend. In addition to F1 at Belgian Spa-Francorchamp, British F4 is also run, in which Swedish Joel Granfors participates.

Granfors enters this weekend’s competitions, which are the starting shot for the second half of this year’s season, full of optimism.

A strong weekend most recently at Scottish Knockhill rendered two visits to the podium (P2 twice) while the Eskilstuna driver made his best time qualifier for the season so far.

When the championship now returns to Thruxton in the south of England, it is with, to say the least, good memories that Granfors will start. In the start of the season here in May, there were also double podium visits (P2 twice).

– I feel very optimistic about Thruxton, says Joel Granfors. We had really good speed there in the premiere and since then I have gained a lot more experience. This means that we can use the time on the training a little more efficiently in the hunt for those last hundredths – because it will be even. There’s always great racing at Thruxton.

After five out of 10 races, with three races per weekend, Granfors is in fifth place in the championship. And it seems to be close in the table:

1: Matthew Rees (GBR), 167 p.
2: James Hedley (GBR), 162 p.
3: Matias Zagazeta (PER), 144 p.
4: McKenzy Cresswell (GBR), 131 p.
5: Joel Granfors (SWE), 108 p.
