Pierre Gasly had a hard time driving in traffic during the time trial of the Formula 1 Spanish Grand Prix. The Frenchman from Alpine got into a sticky situation twice in Q1: once the Ferrari blocked Carlos Sainz’s path, and later he did not pull away from Max Verstappen’s Red Bull in time.

The incidents were quite clear, as an outside observer, Fernando Alonso, who was driving nearby, for example, immediately ranked Gasly three places behind in Verstappen’s incident.

Of course, the final decision was not made by the Spaniard, but by the stewards, but their opinion was the same as Alonso’s: in both cases, the driver received 3-3 correct penalties. Gasly can therefore only start from the 10th position on Sunday, instead of the fourth place he obtained in qualifying.
