– I would like to sincerely thank the Secretary General Jovan Šurbatović, and his team in a tireless effort to create a much-needed new legal framework for Serbian football, despite ongoing challenges. The proposed changes are the result of constructive and successful consultations. UEFA i FIFA have approved these changes and fully support them. The new Statute and the new Rules of Procedure will bring the necessary clear changes in FSS at all levels of its organizational structure and will ensure full compliance with the legal framework UEFA i FIFA. Most importantly, the changes will provide a balanced and inclusive membership structure, a clear division of powers with checks and balances, strengthen independent decision-making, consolidate the Assembly as the highest legislative body, introduce transparent election rules and increase overall transparency and accountability. After today’s emergency Assemblies of FSS, UEFA and FIFA will of course continue to help FSS in ensuring the implementation of further positive governance reforms. As a next step, all regional federations will have to harmonize their statutes with the FSS Statute. When that is done, the elections will be held from the bottom of the football pyramid until the election of a new one I FSS for a four-year term, and as soon as possible, in accordance with the timing of the elections. Finally, we need to make sure that the rules of the relevant competitions, refereeing issues, anti-match-fixing measures, standard player contracts, as well as the procedures of the existing Dispute Resolution Council at the national level are revised to ensure full compliance. In this regard, we look forward to the commitment FSS to participate in the recently formed working group of the European Commission for Social Dialogue.

Finally, I would like to commend the leadership FSS for an uncompromising fight against match-fixing. It is a key challenge that requires our constant support and efforts, in order to eradicate this phenomenon and preserve the integrity and fair football competitions.
