Suara.com – Arsenal’s young forward Eddie Nketiah will inherit the iconic number 14 shirt after he agreed a long-term contract extension with the English club.
The awarding of the number 14 shirt, which has been popular since it was worn by Arsenal legend Thierry Henry, shows the 23-year-old’s great faith in manager Mikel Arteta.
“I’m glad Eddie stayed with us. He represents all the values of this club,” Arteta said, quoted from the club’s official website as published by Antara, Saturday (18/6/2022).
“We are very pleased that he has extended his contract and now we can immediately work again to continue developing the great talent that is in him,” he added.

Nketiah is an Arsenal academy graduate located in Hale End and marked his senior home debut with a brace against Norwich City in an English League Cup match in 2017.
Last season, Nketiah scored five goals in the Premier League and began to win Arteta’s trust with eight opportunities to play as a starter.
Overall since making his senior debut in 2017, Nketiah has scored 23 goals in all competitions in 92 games for Arsenal.
At international level he is the all-time top scorer for the England U-21 national team with 16 goals in 17 appearances and captained the team to win the 2021 U-21 European Cup.
The departure of Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang in January, followed by Alexandre Lacazette this summer, has seen Nketiah move up in the competition for the main place in Arsenal’s front line. He also hopes to follow his fellow Hale End graduates, namely Bukayo Saka and Emile Smith Rowe, to the England senior national team.
