Most often, we talk about expensive devices, since they are the ones that collect the maximum number of views. The logic of the readers is, most likely, this: I can’t buy, so at least I’ll look at the material. And I fully share such thoughts. I myself sometimes go to YouTube to look at Rolls-Royce reviews and duplex apartments in Moscow City apartments.
Today we will focus on the cheapest Anker brand headphones. The material will be of interest only to those who are going to buy something similar up to 2,000 rubles. I would not get involved with TWS devices for 1,000 rubles or less – this is already a very tough economy, which will not lead to anything good.
Despite the low cost, Anker Rise R100 offers its potential users a 10mm audio driver, wireless Bluetooth 5.0, two microphones and a pretty decent battery life of around 7 hours!
They support AAC and SBC audio codecs, of course. The kit includes additional ear pads and even a cable for connecting the power to the case.
The cost has already been announced – 2,000 rubles.
This is the classic shape of a compact “keg” with the most smoothed corners. Convenient, sleek and fits in any pocket. And it weighs only 50 grams with headphones.
The case is made of plastic, the material is glossy. Available in two colors: white and black.
The assembly is more or less normal, but the seams are still noticeable. For a device for 2,000 rubles, this is permissible.
The Soundcore logo is engraved on top of the lid.
Bottom – USB-C and a button for pairing headphones with a smartphone. On the front panel in the center there is a barely noticeable indicator of the device’s operation.
For more convenient opening of the lid, the designers have provided a small ledge. By the way, this is the first time I’ve seen this. A really thoughtful thing.
The lid is held closed by magnets.
The lid opens easily and is not fixed in the extreme position.
It is not always convenient to take the headphones out of their “jacks” due to the fact that they are made of glossy plastic and do not protrude very high above the body. Fingers slip corny.
Assembling the headphones is similar to assembling the case – so-so, the seams are noticeable.
The device is compact and very light – 4.4 grams.
The form factor is “stem”, that is, a speaker plus a small cylinder with a battery and a microphone inside. The “stem” is about 20 mm long. For example, Huawei freebuds 4 has 30 mm.
The bottom of the headphones has two contacts for charging and a hole where the microphone is located.
Above is a mechanical button. With the help of it, tracks and answers to calls are managed:
- Two presses (right) – play / pause;
- Hold for 2 seconds (right) – next track;
- Hold for 2 seconds (left) – previous track;
- One press (right) – the volume is higher;
- One press (left) – the volume is lower;
- Three clicks – switching the equalizer.
Etc. You can read more in the instructions.
No problem at all. Just put it on – and immediately the whole village was right. With active shaking of the head, the headphones do not fly out. There is no discomfort even with prolonged wear.
In short, there is nothing to complain about – excellent headphones for everyday wear.
About the sound
There are not many details for this kind of headphones: a 10 mm driver, and that’s it. There are not even frequency parameters. However, headphones for 2,000 rubles are probably not needed, the main thing is that there should be sound at all.
The connection is instant: just took out the headphones – and they immediately connected to the smartphone. In this case, I tested it with Asus Zenfone 8. By the way, the connection of the two devices is also instantaneous.
You can use either two devices or one, since there are microphones in both “ears”.
- Volume… Very high, it is sufficient in all cases of using headphones. There is no overload. The smoothness is average, in fact, you adjust from 30% to 80%.
- The wall… Very wide. Tools are easily identified on the right and left. The depth is shallow, the width is decent.
- Bass… To my surprise, there is a very deep and clean, non-humming bass. It seemed to me that there could be no low frequencies in such “pukalki” at all. The only minus is in serving – not biting, smeared.
- Vocals… Perfectly transmitted by these headphones. Clean and distortion-free.
- Middle… Here there is a small dip in frequency.
- High… An even bigger dip is somewhere around 10 kHz. Distortion begins.
Best of all, the Anker Rise R100 is given a popular genre of music, in which there are a minimum of instruments and sounds. Vivid examples: Vanya Dmitrienko – “Venus-Jupiter” or Billie Eilish – Bad guy.
Rock and metal are worse for headphones. For example, Deep Purple – Child in time sounds, of course, extremely primitive: the sounds turn into a mess, you can’t tell where the guitar is, where the drums or keyboards are.
In general, for 2,000 rubles, you can hardly find something better in terms of sound quality. I was extremely surprised. No nagging – super gags.
There is no active noise cancellation here, but the passive one works well due to the clear fit of the ear cushions to the auricle.
As a headset
Great for conversations:
- Very quickly connect to smartphones.
- One earphone can be used.
- The volume is high, but you shouldn’t raise your voice for clearer speech transmission. It is best to speak quietly.
- The sound is of high quality, there is no echo, no electronic voice.
Sound recording example:
The battery in each earbud is 55 mAh, in the case – 500 mAh. Relatively typical data for devices over 5,000 rubles.
In my conditions, at 30% -60% volume, the headphones worked for about 6 hours. You can squeeze 7, but the volume will have to be reduced to 20%.
The case will help power the batteries about three more times.
There is really nothing to say here. Before you are decent cheap headphones for 2,000 rubles: excellent bass, good midrange, good voice transmission in headset mode. Further – fast connection, work with any headphone, excellent autonomy for this class.
There are downsides. It’s a mushy sounding of complex melodies and a slight overload in headset mode if you speak loudly.
I highly recommend those who want to buy a budget TWS headset with decent sound and the ability to use it in headset mode.
For 2,500 rubles, you can find JBL C100TWS. Simple headphones with five hours of operation, but a small emitter size – only 5.8 mm versus Anker’s 10 mm.
The Xiaomi Mi True Wireless Earbuds Basic 2 are sold even cheaper. But this is already from the category “not enough money – 1,000 rubles – I will buy the most affordable”.
And if you rummage through the catalogs of online stores, you can find a dozen headphones similar to Xiaomi for 500 – 1,500 rubles. And I’m generally silent about AliExpress.
