EVM panic among candidates in city elections

Jatiya Party Chairman GM Quader has commented that panic has started among the candidates in the city elections regarding the use of Electronic Voting Machine (EVM). He said that the government and the Election Commission are saying that they should not be afraid of EVMs. The people of the country are not stupid. The current government has made many caricatures about EVMs. If you want to gain the trust of the common people, you have to hold elections without EVMs. It is not right to give EVM in any city election.

He said these things while attending an event at the Jatiya Party Chairman’s Banani office on Monday (May 8). Under the leadership of Alternative Voluntary Party President Abul Basar and General Secretary Sakhawat Hossain Babu, hundreds of leaders and activists of Alternative Party joined the Jatiya Party that day.

Referring to the back-and-forth of Awami League and BNP, GM Quader said that when one party starts something bad, the other party comes to power and increases it. No one is less than others in terms of faults. Thus two parties are pushing the country towards uncertainty. Regarding the upcoming five city elections, he said, there is no proof of who voted where in the EVM. Common people think that with EVMs, the government can announce whoever it wants as the winner. Common people say that the ruling party people do not allow to vote. Even if the government party does not vote, they are passing.

Japa Chairman said that the government, administration and everyone involved in the election system are making arrangements to announce the results as per the government’s wishes using EVMs. In power, passing elections through partisanship using administration does not require public support.
