The vote on the euthanasia law, in particular, was this Wednesday postponed, at the request of the CDS-PP, in the parliamentary committee on Constitutional Affairs, Rights, Freedoms and Guarantees.
The request for postponement by CDS, a right of any parliamentary group, was announced by Luís Marques Guedes, chairman of the commission, before the debate on the specialty of the law began.
The centrists, through the parliamentary leader, had already criticized “the hurry” in the conclusion of the law, which was approved, in general, in February 2020, based on projects of the PS, BE, PAN, ENP and Liberal Initiative.
With this postponement, the diploma will only reach the President of the Republic, Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa, after the presidential elections, scheduled for January 24th.
