Estonia will not take part in EXPO 2025

On Thursday, the government confirmed that Estonia will not participate in the World Expo (EXPO) 2025, which will be held in Japan.

Prime Minister Kaja Kallas said that the government had listened to the arguments of the Minister of Economics and Information Technology Tiit Riisalo on why Estonia should not participate in the World Expo in Japan in 2025 and decided to take them into account, writes ERR.

Minister of Economy and Information Technology Tiit Riisalo told Japanese Ambassador Matsumura Yukihiko on May 9 that Estonia would not participate in the Osaka World Expo in 2025. Riisalo explained this decision by the need to cut government spending. According to him, participation in the exhibition would cost Estonia 3-4 million euros.

The exhibition will run from April 13 to October 13, 2025. The exhibition area will be built on the artificial island of Yumeshima off the coast of Osaka and will be 155 hectares.
