English detainees who attacked the GNR patrol in the Algarve

The National Republican Guard (GNR) detained two Englishmen, from a group of four, who attacked and threatened with death two soldiers from that security force inside a hotel in Vilamoura, in the district of Faro.

In a note sent to Lusa news agency, the GNR indicates that two Englishmen were detained for resistance and coercion under official, threat, aggression and physical coercion and theft, after a service performed by two GNR soldiers at the Casino de Vilamoura, at around 1:30 am on Sunday .

According to this security force, the patrol witnessed four Englishmen, aged between 25 and 32, who wanted to enter the Vilamoura Casino without an individual protection mask, having been prohibited from entering by the porter, to which they reacted with aggression and insults. .

After this interpellation at the door of the casino, the military verified that the four Englishmen had moved to the parking lot of a hotel unit, with the two elements of the GNR having been informed by the guard that they had stolen a wooden object from the hotel, which motivated the approach by the patrol to suspects, explains the corporation.

The GNR says that when the military arrived at the scene, the suspects fled to the interior of the hotel, by the swimming pool, where they were approached having “immediately reacted aggressively with death threats and aggressions against the military, attacking them and even throwing one of the soldiers into the pool”.

The National Republican Guard points out that “because the military was outnumbered and feared for its own life, a firearm was used, three shots were fired into the air and the suspects were put on the run.”

The GNR states that it managed to detain two of them, who remained in the Guard’s premises until they were presented to the Judicial Court of Loulé on Monday, which decreed their release through a term of identity and residence.

According to the GNR, the two soldiers had injuries to the head, trunk and limbs resulting from the attacks that required hospital treatment, where, in addition to bruises and various abrasions, two fractures in the hand of one of them were diagnosed.
