Elon Musk finally took some time to think about autonomous cars and came to the conclusion that this was not what he expected, or at least this is what his response to one of twitter’s posts can deduce: – FSD (Full Self-Driving) 9 beta is coming, I promise ! Generally speaking, autonomous cars are a big problem because they require AI to be resolved in a large part of the real world. I didn’t expect it to be so hard, but the difficulty seems obvious in retrospect. Nothing has more freedom than reality, we read. Does this mean Tesla will give up its plans?
Definitely not, especially since fans of this solution and Elon Musk himself keep encouraging the company to act and ensure that it is doing great, asking about the release date of the new version of the Full Self-Driving function. The only question is whether they are aware of the fact that this still will not allow them to hand over the management to artificial intelligence, not only due to the lack of technological possibilities, but also legal regulations. Nevertheless, Tesla’s CEO has a long history of promising and not delivering this solution, so it’s hardly surprising. Already in 2018, he claimed that this long-awaited version, numbered 9, would reach users at any moment, then he repeated the same in 2019, saying that in “one year from now there will be over a million cars equipped with fully autonomous driving software” and how It’s easy to guess that it didn’t work – there are more promises instead.
In our opinion, it is completely unnecessary, because although we, as fans of new solutions and technologies, are looking forward to the fact that autonomous cars will actually become everyday life, it is crucial to ensure safety for everyone. And if the wait is still long years before that happens, so be it – of course that would be the ideal scenario as we also have a flip side, Tesla, who needs real-life driving data to improve its technology. So it can be expected that Elon Musk will finally keep his word and deliver FSD 9 to Tesla drivers, but it will in no way turn the cars into autonomous ones.
We are still talking about a solution in which the driver is actively involved in driving the car – he must sit behind the wheel and keep his hands on it, because only then is he guaranteed to be safe. In short, we will wait longer for autonomous vehicles in common use than everyone thought, because the problematic nature of this solution begins to reach not only Elon Musk, but also other manufacturers involved.
