Electric vehicle charging hub installed in Leiria

The number of electric vehicle chargers continues to increase in Portugal. The first HUB for charging electric vehicles and installed by SunEnergy in Portugal has just opened in Leiria.

Six others will follow, which will be ready in the coming weeks, in Guimarães, Matosinhos, Viseu, Coimbra, Loures and Loulé.

Electric charging HUB has 1 150 kW PCVE, 3 50 kW PCVE and 5 22 kW PCVE

Each Hub is made up of 1 150kW PCVE (Ultra-Rapid Charging Station): it charges 80% of a battery in about 30 minutes; 3 50 kW PCVE (Rapid Charging Station): charge 80% of a battery in about 1.5 hours and 5 22 kW PCVE (Normal Charge Station): charge 80% of a battery in about 3.5 hours.

According to Raul Santos, general director and founder of SunEnergy…

This is Sunenergy’s first major step in the area of electric mobility, a new business area for the company, which joins solar panels, its main activity, and which makes perfect sense, given its position as a company

These Hubs were put out to tender by Mobi.e, with SunEnergy having won 7 of the 9 tenders, among more than 20 entities that competed, thus being the chosen entity for the construction of the infrastructures, which included all the civil works, the placement of the network of cables, the installation of a concrete monobloc with a 630 kVA transformer station, the installation of 9 PCVEs in each HUB, its commissioning and also its licensing with DGEG.

As usual, new year prices are new and now it seems that this will also happen in electric charging! In addition to bread, transport, among others, electricity will also increase. With regard to electricity, after two increases this year, electricity prices in the regulated market will increase by 0.2% from January.

Recently, the Energy Services Regulatory Authority (ERSE) released the new tariffs to be applied by Mobi.e in 2022 and the increases are leaving the electric mobility sector in an uproar. However, the Government has already mentioned that it is analyzing the matter and that its ambition is for prices to remain unchanged.
