Electric Lotus Eletre Introduced National Class

After many years of preparations, Lotus presented the electric crossover Eletre. According to the British manufacturer, the name of the model means “return to life” in some Eastern European languages. The company designed the Eletra as a traditional sports model with crossover usability.

Eletre uses the Lotus platform for premium models. The company announced that there are different specifications, and that the initial car has 608HP with one unit on each axle. Acceleration from 0-100km / h takes less than 3 seconds and top speed is 260km / h.

No data on the weight of the car was published, and it was announced that the battery capacity is 100kWh and that the estimated autonomy is 600km according to the WLTP cycle. Electra can be charged with a power of 350kW, which means that in 20 minutes the charger gets an autonomy of 400km.

The crossover has air suspension with active height adjustment and rear-wheel drive technology, and there are also bars that further stabilize the vehicle. In terms of technology, the Eletre is equipped with four lidar sensors – two on the roof, one above the windshield and one above the rear window. In regions where this is allowed, the car will use cameras instead of side mirrors.

Lotus states that the new model is capable of autonomous driving from the beginning to the end of driving. Embedded technology can be enhanced by software packages delivered over the Internet.

Instead of the traditional instrument panel, the area in front of the driver is a thin belt 30 mm high. Different information is displayed on the passenger side, such as music selection. In the center is a horizontally oriented screen with a diagonal of 15.1 inches with all the necessary information. Standard equipment includes displaying data on the windshield with additional elements of virtual reality.

Lotus Eletre will be produced in Wuhan, China, and deliveries will begin in 2023. The first copies are arriving in China and Europe, and it has not been announced yet whether there will be delivery to the United States.
