Electric Cupra Raval in two years

Cupra Urban Rebel

The Cupra brand presented the UrbanRebel concept (pictured) in June last year, while its serial version will arrive in 2025, but with a new name – Cupra Raval (after a neighborhood in Barcelona).

As announced, this urban electric car will take the Cupra far beyond its traditional boundaries, as it is driven by emotion, designed and developed for a more rebellious electric world.

The front-wheel-drive urban electric car uses the Volkswagen Group’s MEB Small platform to realize an emotional, high-performance city vehicle.

“This will be the biggest project for our company in the coming years, as it is key to our transformation as an all-electric brand. We are leading the development of the Cluster, a family of vehicles that will democratize sustainable urban mobility, for the various brands within the Volkswagen Group,” said Werner Tietz, Vice President Research and Development at Cupra.

This concept vehicle is 4036mm long, 1975mm wide and 1576mm tall (with a 2600mm wheelbase) and is said to have sustainability at its core, integrating advanced materials to push the boundaries of what is possible, and delivering a vehicle which is more ecological.

Production is planned in Martorell, Spain, in accordance with the Strategic Project for Economic Recovery and Transformation Program (in Spanish, PERTE) for the electric and connected vehicle (in Spanish VEC).

Priced at €25,000, the production Raval will be produced in Spain alongside small cars from Volkswagen and Skoda that use the same MEB electric platform and an engine that delivers up to 166 kW/226 hp to the front wheels (less powerful engines are likely to be available).

In the announcement for Raval, Cupra also mentions a range of up to 440 km.

“This is more than just a car for Cupra. This is the model that will democratize urban electric mobility. Emotional, sexy and fun to drive and affordable at the same time. We prove that electric cars don’t have to be boring. This will be the entry of the next generation into our range”, points out Wayne Griffith, CEO of Cupra.
