Electric cars, Nio Et7 uses solid state batteries

Electric cars, Nio presents the Et7: it is the first car of the group equipped with solid state batteries, for greater safety.

Electric cars, begins the revolution of drums to solid state. It is the Chinese manufacturer Nio, which has become famous in recent months for its line of low cost electric, to inaugurate the market. In fact, the Nio Et7, the first car of the group to feature “solid state” technology.

Solid state batteries are typically considered safer than conventional solutions, since the fire risk is reduced. Furthermore, they offer a better management of the accumulated electricity and, at least from a theoretical point of view, a greater autonomy per charge.

Electric cars: Nio Et7 in solid state

Nio’s first car with solid state batteries is called Et7, as already mentioned. This is a car with a permanent magnet motor from 180 kW, combined with a 300 kW induction engine, for a total of 480 kW and a torque of 850 Nm. The electric car is a sedan dedicated to the high segment of the market and, at least in Asian markets, will compete directly with known brands of the industry, such as Tesla.

The battery has a power of 70 kWh and autonomy up to 500 kilometers, depending on how you use it. Furthermore, a second version of the car is available equipped with an additional battery, capable of increasing the range up to 700 km. However, Nio has already announced an update for 2022, with the possibility of installing batteries up to 1,000 km of autonomy. Meanwhile, the car is capable of accelerating from 0 to 100 kilometers per hour in 3.9 seconds.

The car will also be equipped with the NAD system – Nio Autonomous Driving – for the autonomous driving, thanks to 11 high resolution cameras, LiDaR sensors, Radar sensors, ultrasonic sensors and much more.

The Nio Et7 will initially only be available in China, a 54.800 euro, as reported by Il Sole 24 Ore. It will also be possible to buy the battery in mode Battery As A Service, or with the possibility of replacing the batteries in the affiliated centers instead of resorting to the classic recharge.
