Long-running favorite Makoto Hasebe (37) will stay with Bundesliga soccer club Eintracht Frankfurt for another year.
As the Bundesliga fourth announced on Monday, the Japanese defensive all-rounder’s contract, which expired at the end of the season, was extended by one year to the end of June 2022.
Sports director Fredi Bobic praised Hasebe as a “picture book professional. He works with great diligence on his body and subordinates everything to professional football.” Since moving to Main in 2014, Hasebe has played 228 games for Eintracht, making him the most frequently used professional in the current squad.
“The fact that he is still a top performer at his age and an indispensable part of the team is mainly due to his highly professional attitude”, emphasized Bobic and also described Hasebe as the “perfect leader”.
