AS Eesti Raudtee announced a construction tender for the construction of the Turba – Risti section. The construction work is planned to be financed from the European Relaunch Fund (RRF).

“We are pleased to move forward with the construction of the Haapsalu electric railway. We completed the design work at the beginning of this year and were now able to announce the first construction tender from Turbine to Rist, ”said Riho Vyatkin, Head of the Estonian Railway Construction Service.

The construction work on the approximately 13.5 km section of the peat-cross includes the construction of an embankment, a track, level crossings, crossings, tunnels, fences and waiting platforms. In addition, within the framework of the same procurement, a railway viaduct will be built in the Ellamaa area across the state highway No. 9 Ääsmäe – Haapsalu – Rohuküla and the existing culverts and bridges on the railway section will be reconstructed. The new railway section to be built will allow passenger trains to travel up to 160 km / h in the future.

“We are waiting for tenders for the tender on May 30, and we plan to complete the construction work until the end of 2024,” Vyatkin added.

In December 2019, the first six-kilometer section between Riisipere and Turba was completed in the Tallinn-Haapsalu railway reconstruction project, the construction of which cost 7.7 million euros. The construction of the railway from peat to Rohuküla is estimated to cost up to 100 million euros.
